Ritrovare le energie: il potere naturale delle spezie - Valle del Crati

After the holidays are over, we all share the same feelings: tiredness, heaviness, bloating, which make the return to daily activities more difficult and stressful.
But how can we regain our energy naturally?! All it takes is a little healthy movement and the right foods to bring to the table for a pleasant detox action. Let's take a look at some good tips together.

Laurel

Have you ever heard of the detoxifying properties of laurel? Yes, because laurel is not only an excellent seasoning for soups and roasts, but also a valuable ally for our organism; a wild plant that grows luxuriantly and brings with it a load of benefits:

- aids digestion
- relieves heartburn
- cleanses the body of toxins
- strengthens the immune system and protects it against seasonal illnesses

Laurel tea

Preparing a laurel herbal tea with a depurative effect, excellent for eliminating toxins and digestion is really simple, you will need:

- 250 ml water
- 4 bay leaves (fresh or dried)
- 1 organic lemon

Wash the bay leaves well, removing the central vein; cut a couple of peels from the lemon, taking care not to cut off the white, more bitter part.

Put the bay leaves and lemon peels in a saucepan and cover with water. As soon as it starts boiling, cook for at least two minutes, then turn off the heat and let it rest for a few minutes.

Strain through a strainer into a cup. If you wish, you can sweeten it with your favourite honey or sugar, or add some freshly grated ginger. Now sit down on the sofa with a nice plaid and relax. The laurel herbal tea will do the rest! You can drink this herbal tea at any time of the day, we recommend making it after your main meals.

Oregano

Those born and raised in southern Italy are used to the heady scent of oregano ‘hanging’ to dry upside down, peeping from the kitchen ceiling.
Here, we grew up on water and "fresa cunzata", the typical fresella seasoned with tomato, oil and oregano that has always been a must for summer dinners in Calabria, when the heat is so strong that turning on the cooker becomes impossible!

But besides being a fragrant spice and a must for seasoning pizzas and tomato salads to perfection, oregano hides unsuspected health properties.

Oregano is a plant rich in beneficial substances, starting with fibres, which help the intestine function properly, combat constipation and promote the regular absorption of cholesterol and sugar.

Oregano also has remarkable anti-inflammatory properties and a high content of vitamin C and vitamin E, which help strengthen the body's immune system.
To enjoy these properties, why not prepare some tasty and light oregano crackers to be eaten as a snack during the work break or to accompany a light dinner.

Oregano crackers

Ingredients
- 300 g 0 flour
- 100 g t.a. water
- 60 g of evo oil
- 5 g fine salt
- 5 g oregano crumbled

Preparation
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl, adding the salt last. In the meantime, heat the oven to 180° in static mode.

Roll out the dough into a fairly thin sheet with a rolling pin between two sheets of greaseproof paper and cut with a pastry cutter into any shape you like (rectangles, squares, diamond shapes).

Place the crackers on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and bake for about 10 minutes, until golden brown.

The crackers will keep for about a week, unopened in a container at room temperature.
