Christmas is the holiday that most of all evokes the desire for conviviality, closeness and cheerfulness with its dinners and aperitifs in company where people laugh and have fun.
But when it's all over, after the days of revelry, they come too... the leftovers!
So as you take down the tree and put the decorations back in the boxes, you find yourself moving that lonely, sad panettone in its classic paper wrapping from one side to the other.
Panettone is already aware of the sad fate that awaits him...he is just waiting for his time to come.
Because let's face it, there is always that one pandoro or panettone that remains for months and months hidden in the pantry! But by the time you realise it, it will be too late because by then Easter will have arrived and you will have to make way for doves and chocolate eggs, almost as if it were a vicious circle.
Shall we then talk about dried fruit? There are peanuts, dates that you may not even like, and nuts to be shelled. That cannot be missing from the Christmas table, but who knows why every year you always buy more than you need.
The problem with dried fruit is that it is highly dangerous! Because if you forget it hidden in the larder for months on end, you run the risk of nasty surprises, especially with the arrival of hot weather.
Now don't get anxious, there is a solution to avoid this. Fighting food waste is everyone's duty and you too can contribute with some simple steps, how about starting now?
We have collected some recycling recipes to reuse the food left over from the Christmas festivities: dried fruit, pandoro and panettone, lentils and cotechino. You will find many on the net, we know, but these seemed simple, delicious and within everyone's reach. So word of warning: leftovers do not fear us!
